August borns and their stories

How has the world revolved so fast that we are already in the eighth month of the year. The eighth month according to Julian and the Gregorian calendars – August, is here. Originally known as Sextilis, the month of August was renamed after the First Emperor of Rome, Augustus Caesar. The month of August used to have 29 days, but there was an addition of two days upon the changes done in the Julian calendar. 

It’s my birthday!

Having the zodiac sign of Leo and Virgo, August-borns are natural leaders; their confidence, hard work, and creativity inspires many people.  They might be critical at times, but they will have patience and kindness for everyone.

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa (original name Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu), born on August 26, 1910, was a nun and a missionary. She was the Saint Teresa of Calcutta. She was born in Skopje, the Ottoman Empire (now a part of North Macedonia). Mother Mary Teresa had devoted her life to helping the poor and the needy.

Mother Mary Teresa was born into an Albanian family. Her father was involved in Albanian community politics and, her mother was deeply involved in church and its activities. In many ways, Mother Teresa was influenced by her mother; to become a part of the church and lend a helping hand to others in need.

M Night Shyamalan 

Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan is an Indian-born America based film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born on August 6, 1970, in Mahé, a small district in Puducherry. The creative genius in him has given many hits like – The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000), After Earth (2013), Glass (2019), etc. His movies are not to be understood with a simple mindset; the August-born director has such innovative thinking that it requires some effort to be able to understand the plot twists in his films. 

Sunil Chhetri 

Born on August 3, 1984, Sunil Chhetri is an Indian footballer. With the position of a striker, the footballer is also the captain of the Indian National Football Team. Chhetri’s career started in the year 2002 and, since then, he has been a part of several leagues and teams. Having 56 goals and 97 appearances, Chhetri has been named the AIFF Player of the Year five times in the years 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. 

Taapsee Pannu 

Taapsee Pannu is an Indian actress who has worked in several Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films. Before stepping into the world of the film industry, the August-born actress was working as a software engineer and also developed an app – FontSwap. Working in the film industry has been glorious for her as she has given commendable performances in many movies including, Pink (2016), The Ghazi Attack (2017), Badla (2019), Thappad (2020), etc.

Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao is an Indian film actor. The actor graduated from Delhi University and studied further at the Film and Television Institute of India. After completing his studies, Rajkummar moved to Mumbai and bagged his debut role in Love, Sex, and Dhokha (2010). His recent works in films and Web series have gained a lot of recognition and led him to win multiple awards like the Filmfare Awards for his 2013 movie Shahida & 2018 movie Trapped, Best Actor Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, etc.
