Cyclone Yaas To Hit West Bengal And Odisha
Cyclone Tauktae hits the western coast of India and now the eastern coast is about to hit by another cyclone. Cyclone Yaas would be affecting the coastal regions of West Bengal and Odisha.
The Indian Meteorological Department said that the cyclone Yaas will be hitting the coast on May 26th. This would be the second cyclone of 2021 in India. The effects of the first cyclone Tauktae can still be seen and here we are with another cyclone.
About the cyclone.
The department has said that a new cyclone will bring the Southwest monsoon winds. As per the sources on 22nd May, a low-pressure area will be formed in North Andaman sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal.
The department has said that it will gradually intensify and turn into a cyclonic storm within the subsequent 72 hours. The cyclone will move Northwest and reach the coast of Bengal and Orissa on 26th May in the evening.
Right now there is no confirmed information that the Cyclone will make it to the Odisha coast but there is some possibility that it is predicted by IMD.
From 25th may the coastal area might experience moderate rainfall and winds. On May 25, in the evening Heavy rainfall is can be there.
Warning:- The sea condition from may 24th will be very rough and the IMD department advised all the fishermen not to venture Around the coastal area. It is also an adversary not to move towards the north of the Bay of Bengal from May 24 to 27th.
Effects of Tauktae
The Indian Seas are no strangers to all the cyclones. On average, Indian seas witness around six cyclones each year. All the cyclones are very unpredictable and their rapid intensification always remains a huge concern for IMD. The Western coast is still assessing the damage done by the cyclonic storm.
The Western Coast was headed by the cyclone on May 15th and as per sources on Wednesday 45 people lost their lives due to the cyclone in Gujarat. Also, 18 people died in Maharashtra because of Tauktae.
Cyclone and Odisha
Every year Odisha handles cyclones and the disaster management team of the state is handling it very nicely. Every year there are 2 to 3 cyclones in Odisha. And this year the Yaas cyclone hit Odisha.

- In 2019, there was cyclone Fani, and in 2020, Odisha was hit by cyclone Amphan and this year Cyclone Yaas.
But every single time Odisha takes care of these cyclones and disasters.
